Took a couple years but glad you liked it... Yes, everyone needs to watch Revolutionary Girl Utena. ^^

Here's a few of mine, in no particular order:

Zeta Gundam (honestly, most of UC is good)
    Witch Hunter Robin
    Cowboy Bebop
    Hellsing
Revolutionary Girl Utena (Ignore the fact that it's shoujo, it's excellent... Also, watch the series first then the movie, otherwise it makes even less sense than normal)
Record of Lodoss War (old school RPG-ish)
    Initial D

I'm gonna say it again, if you like dark, psychological, drama, action, with a deep story and lots of character development then watch Utena.

I just finished Evangelion 1.11: You can (not) advance and Eva 2.22: You are (not) alone. Pretty good! The original had a lot more content, but in some ways incomplete. The original left a lot of stuff open for interpretation, but a little too much so. I don't think I ever watched Death and Rebirth from the original (those episodes were designed to bring closure to some of those open questions).

I recall very little of Eva (been years since I watched it) but Zeta and Utena both have a very deep story. Though, both get pretty dark in tone at times. Zeta is easily my favorite Gundam series that I've seen since they have no problem doing things that normally (from what I've seen) doesn't happen often. Plus, they introduce a lot of interesting characters and mechanics. It also brings back story lines from 0079. As for Utena, I'm not sure why, but I just really like that series. It and Zeta are one of those that I watch in entirety every couple years.

So, if you haven't seen either of those PM me...
